I was looking at the various college wrestling coach of the year awards and wondered if one is considered more desirable or prestigious than the others? Besides the conference-specific awards (B1G, Big 12, etc), are there others besides the NWCA, WIN Magazine, and Intermat that name an annual COY? I always thought the NCAA did one but I couldn't find a COY list anywhere.
The winners over the past decade or so tend to be who you would expect (Cael, TaTo, Brands) and usually mirror the tourney/NCAA champ. Has it always been that way? Any COY surprises or controversies in recent memory?
