Court Halts Release Of Report on Pennsylvania Priest Abuse

Wow. I am guessing the due process concerns regarding the reputations of the priests and church personnel are being given juuuust a wee bit more deference than the actual safety of the children was EVER given.

Otoh, this PSU fan recalls quite clearly that in at least one case there were a lot of inaccuracies in a PA grand jury report, so maybe stopping to doublecheck some facts might be prudent.

Meanwhile, in WV, a Supreme Court Justice has been indicted on 22 federal counts revolving around misuse of state cars and gas cards, taking state furniture to his home, and lying to the FBI about same.

WV seems to have approximately the same AMOUNT of corruption as other states. The difference is, our corrupt pols dont get million dollar kickbacks. If PA's public graft is stealing millions from highway projects or approving state contracts in which you have a direct interest, WV is more like stealing slightly used socks, valued at a quarter, from a yard sale.

National security is at stake or......................more protection for big shots. You choose.

I am seeing this "national security" canard floated on a daily basis these days. I can appreciate that people, tangentially involved, could be irreparably harmed. But I suspect that this "to protect the public" notion has been used to hide, cheat and steal for far too long.

PA Supreme Court halts diocese findings after hearing from those mentioned in reports

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- We're hearing more Monday from the state's high court after its decision last week to block the release of grand jury findings in six Roman Catholic dioceses across the state.

The Pennsylvania State Supreme Court says that many people named in the report have lodged challenges. In fact, the court says the overseeing judge, Norman Krumenacker III, gave individuals named until June 22 to come forward to submit their own responses to allegations within the report.

Because the attorney general's office did not oppose a temporary or brief stay on releasing the reports, the state Supreme Court says it decided to temporarily block the results in order to give itself time to hear petitions of those named. It's not clear how long the stay will continue.
