For the third straight year, Appalachian State will host the 2021 Southern Conference Wrestling Championship in Boone, North Carolina. Campbell head coach Cary Kolat was named the coach of the year after guiding his team to an undefeated record in SoCon competition, and Austin Kraisser was named the tournament's Pinnacle Award winner. The 2020-21 season will see nine schools competing in the Southern Conference, as Bellarmine was added as an associate member of the league in July 2020.

Coaches Rankings: 8, 9, 14, 18, 22 respectively.

But only top 3 get auto bids to nationals. Thanks EIWA!

Looks like Mehki is a no go in the ACC tournament.

You sure? FLO showing the following semis are still upcoming:

165 lbs - Jake Wentzel (Pittsburgh) vs Kennedy Monday (North Carolina)
165 lbs - Mekhi Lewis (Virginia Tech) vs Jake Keating (Virginia)
He injury defaulted.

Really hope Lewis is able to go at Nationals. Hate to see injuries. I recall multiple posters on here implying he was faking during the match with Wentzel when it really looked bad. Wish him the best.

Is either Trackwrestling or Floarena running their Dashboard for any of the conference tournaments today? I can not find the conference tournament dashboards! TIA. I’m afraid Flo’s purchase of Trackwrestling has put to end a great service!

Didn't Mehki originally get injurured in a freestyle match during the Covid season?

Seem to remember that too

There was no sign of injury during the Karchla match and no mention of it by the announcers . Lewis wrestled again a few hours later and won by tech fall. When he wrestled Massa the next day, there was still no sign of injury and no mention by the announcers.

That doesn’t rule it out, but it sure doesn’t look like it happened at that event.

I am not such a fan of folk NCAA guys wrestling to much freestyle during the season. A bit of a fluke but it cost us both Cassar and Berge and with it quite a record undefeated dual run. We win both the Az state duals them and without the Conel experiment.

I get your argument but those injuries can happen in a folk match or in practice even. So many wrestlers have made insane jumps off a strong summer of free wrestling.

Berge's concussion occurred before the season began.

But really, is this what you want? These guys have bigger goals than NCAA titles. PSU and NCAA have zero control over the event schedules. And if Cael doesn't let them go, they'll find a coach who will -- like Tan Tom.

What was the NCAA automatic bid for 141 in PAC? Does 2nd place get auto bid?

Honestly based on how he looked today, he wouldn't have been a factor anyways. Guessing he dealt with a major injury or illness and had a long layoff.

wonder why Flo isn't providing any West Coast updates? Feel bad for those wrestlers but makes me despise the school all the more. Makes you wonder how a Div2 or 3 school can support a wrestling pgm but a Div1 school can't. (no reply necessary, has been discussed before, just had to get it off of my chest)
