The article you posted is a version of an article written by WAPO writers. This article leaves out some informative graphics. One that shows the death numbers have risen significantly for those over 75 since last September/October and declined significantly for the 50-75 and the under 50 age groups. At this time, the 75+ y.o. group made up 63% of deaths, 50-75 made up 34%, and those under 50 made up only 3% while the 75+ y.o. group only made up 34% of deaths back in Sept 21 while the 50-75 made up 52%.
So yes, if you're old, be careful.
Also missing is this statement included with one graphic that shows death rates.
"Unvaccinated still die at a much higher rate
The share of deaths among vaccinated people has risen, but the rate of death is still many times higher among unvaccinated people. In January and February, unvaccinated people died at about seven times the rate of the fully vaccinated and 20 times the rate of people with boosters, according to a study of deaths among the vaccinated from 23 state and county health departments."
So no, vaccinated people are not dying at almost the same
rate.
