An altered state
Engineered, designed, and built by China. A pretty damn state of the art. Don’t yet have a full complement of aircraft.

Soon to have 420 ships. And starting to project power worldwide.

The only thing I find surprising here is that this is the first.

This article is blowing smoke.

Equipped with the latest weaponry and aircraft-launch technology, the Type 003 ship’s capabilities are thought to rival those of Western carriers

It's nowhere close. Yes, it is a technological step over their first two aircraft carriers, but it still doesn't compare to the Nimitz class or the Queen Elizabeth class. And I'm willing to bet they have not shaken out the bugs with their "new" technology, most of which was stolen from the US.

The only thing I find surprising here is that this is the first.

It's not. This is their 3rd carrier: the 1st is the same class as Russia's carrier, the Kuznetsov-class, which they bought from Ukraine in the late 90's under the auspices of turning it into a floating casino. The 2nd is a similar design to the Kuznetsov-class which was launched in 2017.

On one hand it'll probably fall apart fast just like any chinese-made product.

But on the other, I doubt Chinese sailors have to go through woke training and diversity sensitivity classes
