This was an interesting lineup to run through. I don’t remember seeing any other lineup where there are no starters from the university’s home state (plus, 8 different states – and Finland – are represented). Cary Kolat has also assembled an impressive coaching staff.

125 – Meink (So) <Skutt Catholic, NE>

Korbin Meink went 23-9 as a true freshman starter last season but missed qualifying for the tournament due to injury.

133 – Boston (Sr) <Woodford, KY>

Nathan Boston went 17-13 last season and didn’t qualify for the tournament (no wins against qualifiers).

141 – Ryan (Jr) <Dracut, MA>

Jonathan Ryan went 15-14 last season and didn’t qualify for the tournament (no wins against qualifiers).

149 – Heil (So) <Brunswick, OH>

Josh Heil is back from a redshirt season where he went 17-7. He had a great Southern Scuffle run, taking out Jared Prince, Tristan Moran and Max Thomsen before running into Zain in the finals. Heil qualified as a true freshman @141 in 2017, going 0-2 in the tournament. (For those that might not know, Dean Heil is his older brother and a volunteer assistant coach at Campbell.) Zach Barnes was a true freshman starter @149 last season, going 19-13 and didn’t qualify for the tournament (no wins against qualifiers).

157 – Kraisser (Jr) <Centennial, MD>

Austin Kraisser went 20-13 last season and didn’t qualify for the tournament. Tyler Marinelli (Gardner-Webb) won the SoCon championship against Kraisser to get the NCAA allocation (Kraisser defeated Marinelli in the dual).

165 – Perez (Sr) <Arlington, TX>

Quentin Perez went 25-10 overall and 0-2 in the tournament. He also qualified in 2017, going 0-2.

174 – Morgan (Jr) <Fountain Valley, CA>

Andrew Morgan went 20-10 last season and didn’t qualify for the tournament. He had one win against a qualifier (Seldon Wright - ODU).

184 – Andrews (So) <North Penn-Mansfield, PA>

Charile Andrews moved up from 174 to take over the 184 spot in the SoCon Championships last season. He went 10-9 (1-2 @184) and didn’t qualify for the tournament (no wins against qualifiers). The starter for most of last season, Luke Funck (So), transferred to Clarion.

197 – Kober (So) <Haverford, PA>

Chris Kober went 17-13 as a true freshman starter last season (didn’t qualify for the tournament).

Heavy – Heino (Sr) <Finland>

Jere Heino went 27-7 overall and made it to the round of 12 last season. He upset #16 seed Matt Stencel and #8 seed Tanner Hall before losing to Nick Nevills. Heino got all of Campbell’s points at the tournament last season. He also qualified in 2017, going 2-2.

Campbell returns both of their qualifiers from last season, returns a former qualifier and Meink back from injury. The Camels should do better than their 1 point in the tournament last season. (Btw, how did they only get 1 point? Was there a team penalty?)

Anyway, @El Jefe will let us know if Mike Evans is impressed with Campbell’s lineup. (I'm impressed with Evan's beard.)

133 Gonser (2017 NCAA qualifier 125) transferred from Eastern Michigan and will push Boston for the spot.

Thanks, Cali!

Man, what a stellar picture of Mike Evans! The beard and hair is amazing, the black suit & orange tie are dope af, and the combination of the one hand in pocket + eyebrow raise is super compelling.

But what jumped out to me most was that raised hand. Lawdy, look at that used & mangled appendage. A wrestler's hand, to be sure.

Just a note: Nathan Boston at 133 won the IN State Championship beating Stevan Micic when both were freshmen. Micic returned the favor the following year before Boston and his family moved to Kentucky. He beat Micic again at the 2014 Harold Nichols Open when Stevan was at Northwestern. Boston started at Iowa State before transferring to Campbell. His career just never took off at Iowa State and obviously didn't fire on all cylinders last year at Campbell, but there is talent there.

I never made the connection. I remember when he was at Iowa State.
