BrockBronson Scholastic Recruiting Apocalypse Thread

This is exactly why Pa needs a Private & public state championships. Bishop McDevitt is loaded up too. Our D4 teams are tough for school teams but can’t compete against those private teams. I agree all these kids are coming into Hs old and ready to contend. PaPower said out of the top 20 incoming freshmen 15 are hold backs.

Not sure if this is true but I heard Bouzakis toured Mcort too. I guess they told him the same thing and they bounced. Who is the light weight they brought in? Was it sidune? That kid is a killer but super old too.

I made the trip out to the CV classic to watch the Harer boys. Oh good lord is Faith Academy the real deal. If you thought the old Becca and NDGP teams were loaded. Wait and see. They have finalist in almost every weight at a really tough event. Both Harer’s are in the finals

Jason Bainey from District 6 has zero influence on what happens in District 10. As the coach for West Branch he has zero impact on whether or not Forest Hills bitches to District 6 officials about losing athletes to McCort.
I also doubt that once the official whine reached the District 6 committee that he has much influence with the Superintendent from the Penn Cambria school district.

Knowing Jason, I am certain that not only does he have opinions that might offend folks I am also certain he shares those opinions with anybody who stops and listens and doesn't care if he pisses others off. So I imagine he has spouted off and has pissed off McCort supporters. But Jason had zero to do with how District 6 came down on McCort, and less than that concerning PIAA decisions.
Thank you. Exactly what I was saying.

By the way, Landon Bainey went 1st period pin-1st period pin-1st period pin-1st period pin in the preseason D6/D5 I.C.C. tournament yesterday and today in Claysburg at 114.

Faith completely dominated the CV classic. Won about every final. Even some young freshmen pushed Connor Harer. How and where do these kids come from? Hontz and Waters looked so tough. Botero and Stein are their best wrestlers. They will be top 5 in the country in the next few years

You made me into a Landon fan. What a dominating performance at the ICC. I am cheering and rooting for him. Somebody let Cael know about him. He gets my vote.

These tiny little villages are actually not too far geographically to State College...it's just that they are so rural that it's actually hard to get information lol...For Instance the kid from Glendale who ended up going to Pitt was a 3 time PIAA champ and nobody really knew much about him...West Branch is a true 1A school that could not recruit if you HANDED them directions lol...the whole Clearfield County area is flattened by poverty and depression...West Branch is a traditional wrestling school but lives and dies by how many kids come out for the sport...this year's team has 16 kids total from 9th grade to seniors to cover 13 weights...

By the way, if Landon were to end up with PSU I would guarantee you he would be a true team gut, in the mold of James English or James Yonushonis, and oddly enough he would actually be the 2nd West Branch wrestler to wrestle D1, as well as the 2nd WB kid to wrestle for Penn State, the other was the great Jerry White who took 3rd place at the NCAA wrestling championship in 1977(and came within a controversial call of beating champ Chris Campbell from Iowa).

Jerry lost in the semi-finals to UM wrestler Mark Johnson. Campbell then beat Johnson for one of Chris's (I believe) 3 championships.

You had me at James English type and honestly made me a fan. I hope PSU gets him. I was also unaware of the west branch story. I hope he wins unless he is battling anyone from D4.

I wrestled with a kid from WB in college and the kid was a grinder. WB also has a D1 wrestler right now in Reynold “Buzzy” Maines who competes for Clarion. He served 4 years in the military after HS and came back to wrestling where he made the team at Clarion as a HWT

Buzzy is a tough dude. Best of luck to him.

Hoping that will gradually change as many of those kids are training with Q.

Updated PIAA AA STATE Rankings, December 5th, 2022:

Updated rankings with more accurate weights, minus the kids who can’t wrestle postseason. This is a non Catholic, unbiased opinion. (Unlikely PA Powers)

Faith Academy could go down as one of the best Pa teams of all time. Grape vine talk two more families toured and making the move after this year.

I see David Kennedy breaking out this year and the four super freshmen will all be top Pa in their careers. (Harer, Milheim, Wentzel and Wirnsberger) the baby brothers all have chances to be better than their older brothers which will be hard but possible.

Team race- I see Benton pulling it out over Warrior Run, The tigers with Granahan, Kolb brothers and Burke as the group. I heard for years about what Warrior run is building and kids moving there. Well now could be their time. Montoursville and Montgomery will also be tough. Harer always has some tricks up his sleeve.

This article has no love for the Benton boys. Most likely because they ate over the summer and wrestled two weight classes up. They will all be back down by post season.

Watch out for Zeke Dubler of Glendale, a great wrestler and a real threat at #3 at 172!

Zeke is very tough and I agree. Wouldn’t surprise me if he wins it all. He used to be a M2 guy. What club does he go to now?

Yoder beat him at regionals and states 2 years ago. Yoder was injured last year but is a horse. Top of that weigh class of Mackay and Garcia will be tough to beat. Plus Waters- will be a very competitive weight class overall

Bold prediction: Waters knocks it MacKay & Garcia and wins it. Waters wrestled welsh tough. Very few people thought he could hang
