Best athlete, no. 6 player in NJ. Rankings updates coming in June, stay tuned! How is it that a 3 star is the best player in NJ????
"Industry rankings" don't mean cow shit to the coaching staff. Every staff does its own evaluation and has its own big board. Or perhaps at staff meetings, Franklin announces....."247 lists Kilroy as a 3 star....hence we are taking him off our board." LOL
All of '23 prospects have their critical senior year to play....and a summer camp season. We'll see movement.
Agreed, and honestly, I don't care about star ratings. These are often very fluid and based on offers. The staff bases their offers on film and camp performances. A lot of schools don't offer if they think a kid is pretty committed and they have no chance. For my money, I am happy if the staff is getting the kids they want. For the most part, I think PSU's staff does that. As of late, the problem has been development on the OL and at QB. The rest of the positions have been fine, IMHO.More important than "industry rankings" are the offer list -- and who is legitimately pushing hard for a kid. That gives folks a better idea of how talented kids are in the eyes of people who matter the most -- coaching staffs.
Those offer lists and the rankings tend to align fairly well, all things being said. It's not a perfect system, but they do tend to correlate. 3* kids with lots of big offers typically become 4* or above. The rankings guys aren't dumb -- it explains the infamous "Bama Bump". And frankly, if a 3* kid is highly sought after by Bama, he probably should be bumped. Just the same, if a 3* WR is being highly recruited by Brian Hartline, he's probably better than a 3*. If a 3* RB is being prioritized by Wisconsin, that kid is probably worth a look. And so on.
Interesting that one of the coaches on the team is Christian HackenbergHUGE get, kid can ball and has connection to Belton! LOVE IT!
and another is Bill BeltonInteresting that one of the coaches on the team is Christian Hackenberg
Generally agree. While some prospects earn stars and the offers seem to follow.....others are evaluated, either on tape or in person at a camp by staff and the offers explode. In either case, each coaching staff must juggle the committable offers .....which at this point in the process means this young man is at the top of the position board for the PSU Staff. While many here can complain about coaching ....no one should complain about their ability to evaluate high school talent.More important than "industry rankings" are the offer list -- and who is legitimately pushing hard for a kid.
