A mom on a college tour called the cops on two Native American teens because they made her 'nervous'

if you see something, DO SOMETHING!!

like this great Graduation marshal!!

I'm so sick of people acting like EVERY TIME a person of color is singled out and mistreated, it is racism. THERE IS NO RACISM. none. in this great country. Never has been, never will be.

Why, a cop passed me the other day on the highway. IT HAPPENS TO WHITE PEOPLE TOO!

Black college students 'aggressively' pulled off Florida graduation stage

Yawn. Just your regular every day ‘call the SWAT team’ on some black folks because, you know....

A fraternity problem.
More attention has been drawn to racism at fraternities recently after Sigma Alpha Epsilon made national news when an entire bus full of members of its University of Oklahoma chapter began singing and laughing along with a racist song, filled with racial slurs and references to lynching, about never admitting black students to the fraternity. Later that year, SAE’s Yale chapter was reportedly also responsible for enforcing a “white-women only” policy at their fraternity parties. Other frats have gotten bad press after leaked emails reveal racist and misogynist conversations among brothers, or after they’ve thrown frat parties relying on racist stereotypes. It’s rare that universities close chapters and suspend members, such as in the case of the University of Oklahoma’s SAE chapter.

Is this incidental? Or does it have something to do with the greater context of fraternities’ culture and history?

The history of race and class dynamics of fraternities
According to Lawrence Ross, author of the newly released book, Blackballed: The Black and White Politics of Race on America’s Campuses, it’s important for Americans to understand the circumstances under which fraternities became popular. As campuses began to become more open to the middle class and to black students, Greek organizations resisted class and race diversity. Frats were a way for white upper-class men to separate themselves from an increasingly diverse student population.

She does not have a right to believe she is morally superior to anybody.

I don't think you meant that.

If you did, then it elevates the severe social regimentation element of fascism to a whole new level.

Tomorrow your right to your own beliefs may be challenged because someone doesn't agree with you.

It is not facism to call people out for self-serving beliefs which are unsupported by ANY evidence, and rendered foolish by all the available evidence. It is critical thinking.

btw "This Is America" is one of the most powerful songs/videos I've watched in a while. Troy has really matured since "Community"

Yeah, tons and tons of layers to that. I didn't realize Tina Fey hired him while he was a student at NYU to write for 30 Rock. And when I heard he was leaving Community to rap, I was like, WTF? But yeah - dude is lit.

You see this? WTF? Pulls gun out of sweater pocket? OVER. MINTS.

How is it that a man trying to make a purchase of Mentos—you know, the freshmaker—ends up with an off-duty police officer drawing his gun? Who knows, but it happened to Jose Arreola in Buena Park, Calif., and two months later, he’s still looking for answers.

Arreola was at a Chevron gas station, and minutes before entering, he took money out of the ATM to buy the mints. As he was finishing up his transaction at the register and getting his change back from his purchase, the man standing behind him pulled his gun and said he was a police officer.

The recently released surveillance footage shows Arreola raising his hands and looking confused as to why the cop had his weapon pulled. The officer told him to put the money and Mentos down. After a few moments, the cashier explained to the cop that Arreola did indeed pay for the mints.

You are correct; but everyone has the right to hold foolish beliefs. The right to hold personal beliefs is about as fundamental as it gets.

See the link below. From the article:

“(CNN) — For the two Native American brothers, Colorado State University was their dream school.

But when they showed up for a campus tour, a parent of another prospective student called the police on them because they apparently made her "nervous," the school said.”

It was just a little misunderstanding.

Where is the obnoxious ass who always responds with “FOOTBALL” when you need him? Oh wait never mind.

You misunderstand.

A person has the right to belong to the Communist Party in this country, and they also have a right to belong to fascist parties - The National Socialist Movement being the only active one I know of. So by extension that would mean they also have a “right” to believe in facism and communism.

Moreover, the last I checked the government didn’t regulate thoughts, so I would say that, yes, people have the “right” to, as you say, “hold self-serving beliefs which are unsupported by any evidence...”. Criticizing their beliefs is one thing, but saying they don’t have a “right” to them is another matter entirely.

For example, you have the “right” to continue to make an ass of yourself, so please continue to do so.

And ironically, or perhaps not, if anyone is espousing fascistic tendencies in this thread it’s you.

There is something wrong with you. You have some sort of deep seated issue and I’m done with you. You aren’t capable of responding intelligently when someone points out how stupid your rants are, so you’re not worh my time. I thought you once said you were an attorney. Maybe I remember incorrectly. If so your an embarrassment to the profession if that is the sum total of your ability to engage in intelligent discourse. Please continue your nonsensical and self-righteous ranting and rest easy...
