2nd We Are…..better, 7/4, Tyreese Fearbry, DE

When you "steal" a 4 star from Pitt's kitchen......does that translate to dominate the state?

Woo hoooo, welcome to Penn State, Tyreese Fearbry & family!!

Nice versatility as he could be a force at OLB or DE.

Anyone here starting to almost feel sorry for Duzzy at Pitt?

No, neither do I.......... ;)

Edit:
A quick visit to the Lair, and not much reaction. An older thread seemed to indicate resolve that Frearby was already likely gone to PSU a week ago or so. A "Frearbry to PSU" thread didn't have one reply..... Maybe they are hoisting up the white flag.....

Did see a "Time for Duzz to go" tweet, though ....... :(

The Pittsburgh Symphony has a free concert at Hartwood Acres tonight. I'm sure they're all on the way there/

It is being reported by KDKA TV that Pitt HC Nar-Doe-Doe has jumped off the Ft. Pitt bridge.

Recovery effeorts are NOT underway since he was not well liked anyway!!

That is all.
If you have to “ worry” about Pitt, we aren’t competing at the top.
We are doing well, for sure.

Right in line with what we are doing: Getting the very best of the 2nd tier players that we CAN get, and beating out the Wisconsin, auburns...Oklahoma...types.
This is the new strategy and I love it! No more final 12 round losses in recruiting to the sec and o$u bagmen: we fight the battles we CAN win and we win MORE than our share!

Have you checked Pitt’s roster lately? It is filled with young DL and LB talent. Sure,Pitt would have liked him to commit-but it is not like they are devoid of talent Adtually, having so much really good young DL talent coming to Pitt from the Pittsburgh area(ie-Johnson,Donald,et al) may have helped him think about going to a school where’re could play sooner than later. That is not a dig at PSU,but rather just a well thought out guess. That may be why Kentucky was his second pick. Anyway, best of luck to the young man.

You're hilarious, Pitt homer.

We are getting really solid kids, but I don’t think the staff is deliberately avoiding elite recruits. It’s just that we weren’t really “in” with as many this class as some prior ones.

But this staff definitely wants/wanted guys like DDS, Sabb, Enai White, Wagner, etc.

We should be in a good position to pursue some elite kids from the region in ‘23.

Interesting to look at their list of 2022 recruits. All 3 star and 2 star. Not a single 4 star on the list. The kids now recognize that Duzzy loses at least 5 games every year. They have no chance at a decent bowl or any national recognition. The football program at pitt is effectively dead.

Which 5 games will you lose this year, pitter? Duzzy always loses at least 5 games even though you play a MAC level schedule in a rented stadium in front of about 15,000 sleepy fans.

They've watered down their schedule.....I don't see how they can lose more than 4 this year. Slippery Rock plays a more difficult schedule than Pitt does this year.

So he went to PSU because he wouldn’t have been good enough to play at Pitt? Really? We heard the same thing about Barkley….there wasn’t any room for him in Rutgers’ backfield. Pitt fans and Rutgers fans really need to step into reality. You’re competing with Patriot League and MAC teams for recruits, but you have more talent than PSU? Come on, man.

In Pitt's defense, they brought in a pretty solid trio in last year's class of Nahki Johnson, Elliot Donald, and Naquan Brown. For a program like Pitt, that DL trio was about as good as they could have gotten.

But yeah.......there is no way to spin this other than to say that PSU flat out beat Pitt for Fearbry. PSU also has 4* kids on their DL roster, and they're in the mix for better DL prospects in the 2022 class than is Pitt.

Pitt wanted this kid, and there's virtually no chance he was scared off by the competition. He just liked PSU better. It happens.

Last year,Pitt had 2 1st team All Americans-both DE’s-Weaver and Jones-both 2 stars.
Also-a fellow named Rickey Jackson back in the class of 1976 recruiting was not star rated at all-now in pro football HOF-Oh,by the way,on that same team was another very lightly recruited DE from Mississippi who was honored by Sports Illustrated as the top defensive player of ALL TIME-yes,that would beHugh Green. So-what is your theory behind stars? Look-I hope any young fellow does well-regardless of where he goes to school. It is just the fact that you must understand who gives these kids stars-most star givers have never seen kids play.

Ps-James Conner was a 2 star-how did your kids enjoy playing against him?

Pitt lost a kid they wanted and thought they were getting at one point. If it didn't hurt, you wouldn't be here to try to rationalize it and minimize it. You'd be ignoring it like you did with all of PSU's other verbals and PSU fans have with all of Pitt's. None of our other verbals mattered to you, and none of yours matter to us.

There definitely is a big-time correlation between stars and offers. Also, the schools that consistently recruit the highest rated classes tend to win more, although level of competition factors in. Sure, there are lots of exceptions as you point out.

Ok, you sold us….you’re four examples (with two being back in the 70’s) prove that stars don’t matter at Pitt. They turn all two and one stars into All Americans. Every other school only wishes they had the player development that Pitt has then they could recruit like shit and still win conference championships and go to the CFP….oh wait, Pitt hasn’t done that….how can that be if stars don’t matter?
