2022 PA States

AA 126 could very well see an all D4 semifinals if Granahan can get by Burkett.

NE 106 was a bust they all went down first round. Thought Wade from Sullivan County would make the qtr's at least. Kolb is a year and 10 lbs away but he had a nice win against Gessner on the backside.

172 AA Lear vs Lawrence Qtr tomorrow should be awesome.

Austin Johnson vs Muzika should give us an idea where Johnson is tomorrow

Jefe, thanks for putting the work into this for us guys in the wrestling forum!
I was surprised that A Johnson from Muncy made the move from 215 to Hvy. He seems small for Hvy but he is very quick and athletic. I realize he is also a freshman in high school that is growing. Heard that Harer really likes PSU. Should be a great tournament!

As far as Johnson goes, the road to a state title in 285 is much easier than trying to go through Pitzer.

Johnson said that there's never been a PA 4x HWT champ and he wanted to be the first. (Haines won his first 3 at 220.)

He's correct and having big goals is great.

I also suspect, and it'll never be said -- Pitzer at 215 may have been a factor.

Wouldn't blame him for that. Nobody asks 4x champs if they picked the hardest weight as a freshman.

Also should've said: I've heard that about Harer too, but not so sure it'll work out that way.

If we get Shapiro in 2023, where does Harer fit in 2024? How long is he willing to wait his turn?

I think he's an awfully good prospect and would love to get him, but being a good team can be brutal that way.

(OTOH, a great program would pile up recruiting national titles.)

He's a long kid so I could definitely see him adding 12-16 lbs., before he graduates. That's just my guess though.

nasdeo with a close win in the first round. expected against a solid familiar opponent

That was very much a toss-up. Nasdeo won at Hershey last year. Wagner beat him in the offseason (IIRC at Fargo), and then pinned him earlier this year.

Huge relief to get past that one. The next one vs. Nico Tocci is no bargain either.

So far, so good.

I stink.

Condo didn't just lose -- he got majored 11-2 by the SC-4 guy who won his pigtail in SV.
hang in there Jefe... styles and the flu season can mean a lot (I was sick every spring due to 12 weeks of pulling weight incorrectly!)

Shindledecker is one of those great Pa names - sounds like a German shortcake

Anyone catch Asher Cunningham’s first consolation bout? Crazy position in the SV period.

His next opponent is freshman Maddox Shaw, Thomas Jefferson, who is 38-5 with 30 falls this season.
Shaw finished 2nd at King of the Mountain to AA favorite Scott Johnson, then finished 2nd at Powerade to Vince Bouzakis -- both 1-pt losses. He good.

His brother Max had 1 loss as a SR, but that 1 was to Donovon Ball at states. He's now North Carolina's starting 197.
