2021 PSU WVB Thread (delayed 2020 season)

Or perhaps most if not all “of that“ due to a head coach clearly past his prime and not doing what is necessary to keep PSU as a top team. We are not a top 10 team, 12th is not top ten. Being the 6th ranked team in our conference is simply unacceptable- or should be. Allowing our most hated rival O$U to rise as we fall is unacceptable- or should be. This isn’t a slip down in quality - this is a plunge off of a (admittedly high) cliff. This IS, relatively speaking, like the football dark years - we are a NON contender. An afterthought both in the BIG and nationally. Not feared - used as a “name” stepping stone for Purdue!?! And we are practically unwatchable - unless you enjoy seeing abysmal serve receive, our outside hitters getting Kong-blocked, and actual good teams in the conference beating us. Why would anyone want to watch that?

the quality of play of PSU women’s volleyball has degenerated so far from the glory years, it’s mind-boggling - our teams from those years would demolish this seasons team so badly that we would have to install a mercy rule so stop the slaughter. wake The heck UP, Penn State - didn’t we learn our lesson regarding keeping a FORMERLY great coach way too long?

If you discount the the fact that other big teams have upped their game and have very good coaches you are not thinking very well. Missing on one or two recruits over a 4 year span can change team makeup substantially. A dominate outside hitter and a great middle could make this team great.

Well that’s the problem, I don’t believe you are making an honest assessment. This is the second thread today that you seem to be more interested in stirring the pot.

Rolliins was 2nd team All BIG for this season and Pritchard was 1st team.

Temporarily. A little work on the mechanics and it looks like he is back up to speed. Adding a 1st team B1G OH and a 2nd team B1G OH to the lineup adds a lot of pep to the delivery. Now lets get them directly from HS and have them for 4 years.

Pritchard and Rollins are both coming in a grad transfers, as they have already completed their undergrad degrees. If I'm not mistaken, both have two years of eligibility remaining.

The really great news about both is that they are solid six-rotation outside hitters. Outside hitters like that are really not as common as you might think.

I"m stoked.

Edit to the above post. Pritchard has only one year of eligibility remaining. Rollins has two. Rollins stated that she intends to play until she no longer has eligibility, so it looks like she'll be on the PSU roster for two years.

IMHO Fitzpatrick is potential star and a big upgrade over Clark. She has the skills to play both front line and backcourt. Bilinovic looked real good at delivering a tough serve and may be the starting liberal by tournament time.
