2021 NCAAs Session 3B Thread

Kerk put up a game fight but needs to bulk up to compete with Steveson (if that's even possible, LOL). Kerk is just as quick, but Steveson is so powerful there was little Kerk could do. Nice to see him get a TD at the end anyway. Has anyone else gotten a TD against Steveson (either in this tourney or all year, really)?
I think Kerks neutral game may have prompted GS to ride him in the first. Who else has he rode like that this year. Parris maybe?

GS didn't want to play catch and release like he does with others.

Really surprised by Beard. He had nothing in that match against a very beatable opponent. Completely spent and on his heels from the opening whistle. He'll think about this opportunity for a long time.
Almost like making weight 2 days straight was an issue? Like you say, he had almost nothing right from the start; just very flat.

I think so too. With 15-20 extra pounds and another year in the room, he's going to be very, very hard to beat.
Talk about Steveson going MMA, but if he doesn‘t, I don’t see how he can be anything But a strong favorite next year.
I try to be a realist.

That's what I thought too. He knows Kerk isn't 100% and he didn't want to mess with him any more than he had to on his feet. A little more weight and a chance to get some conditioning in and Kerk will be much tougher.

Beard fresh is about as good on his feet as any of them, and might beat ayone, and certainly has improved his conditioning, but he still has the worst stamina of any of the good 197ers, and its not close.
Just not enough stamina for a grueling tournament.
He should lift, lift, and run, run, run, run.
Doggone.

SIAP but any idea who Beard gets in blood rounds? I imagine it's someone tough (the top bracket was loaded) and seeing how he looked against Woodley, not feeling it at all.

3rd session stats

Our wrestlers had some tough breaks and of course being the 3rd round, tougher competition.

Beard was by far the biggest disappointment of the day for me. Not only that he lost, but the way he lost.

And obviously, I'm referring to on-the-mat wrestling, not the injuries to Berge and Howard.

Better than Caffey or Schultz though....

For sure, there is no easy path to AA ... I feel that knee is a thing for Michael (and we'll never know) and between it being a half season and him missing time, he was not going to be tournament ready this year.

Let's hope Beard swigs down a 2L bottle of mountain dew before his next match. When his tank is empty it is bone dry, and he completely shuts down.

I gave an 'Oh shit, here we go again' 30 seconds into that match. On a full tank he probably majors. Almost all of his loses the past two years have been due to an empty tank.

After this morning I was confident in top 4, then..

Does Beard have a weight cutting/mgmt issue? Second days of tournaments appear to be low energy wrestling for him.
