2018 Recruiting Thread

No one showed up for Pitt's Junior Day. Peak has the rationalizations ready.

Pat Narduzzi and the football staff held a Junior Day on Saturday, hoping to draw some of their top 2019 targets to Pittsburgh for what may be a first look at Pitt and what it has to offer.

Thus far, the list isn’t shaping up to be star-studded, with just a handful of offered targets confirmed as coming and most of our current expected crop of visitors looking like recruits who will probably have to camp for an offer.

Certainly, it would be more exciting to have a huge, impressive list of four and five-star targets - or even just a bunch of offered recruits - planning to descend on Pittsburgh for the Junior Day, but sometimes things don’t work out that way. The fact that there’s interest enough to have an eye on visiting in the spring is a positive, and in some ways, those spring camp visits can accomplish even more than a typical Junior Day.

If you were in charge of the NCAA, which college football recruiting rule would you add or change?

“I think if you’re committed to a school, you should be able to take more than one official visit to the school.
Not a bad thought. Give the kids 5 officials to wherever they want to go, including repeat visits.

Then you'd have to increase the overall limit on official visits that a school can host, which I believe is 56, in order to accommodate all prospects. Barbour is in favor of this because it will necessitate that she hire an AAD in charge of official visits.

Levis after working out with Shorter:
Shorter showed off his 5-star skill set while working alongside a future teammate.

“He makes it easy for the quarterback,” Levis said. “He makes you look good because no matter where you put the ball, he can get a hand on it, grab it and get some yards after the catch. Justin is just a freak of an athlete. It’s crazy to have his length, athleticism and explosiveness. It took a couple throws to get a rhythm, but after that it was incredible to see what he can do with his body and with the ball in his hands. He’s going to be amazing when he gets to Penn State.”

Samantha Hoopes filling in for Sommer....one of the best threads in the history of BWI.
