Peter and Ann Tombros commit $26 MM to PSU.

It's this - whether it's described as an endowment of the head coaching position, or an endowment for the basketball program wherein the head coaching position is named after the donor seems pretty immaterial. It's all the same pot of money: "basketball expenses." For reference, here's Pitt's...

Peter and Ann Tombros commit $26 MM to PSU.

It's an endowment. It offsets the cost that the university has to pay each year for the head coach's salary. If the endowment pays out $250,000 a year, and Shrewsberry is paid $2,250,000 a year, then Penn State only needs to pony up $2,000,000. But you already know that!

    2022 Starting Lineup

QB: Allar/Transfer RB: Cain (but it'll be the same rotation stuff we see this year between Cain/Lee/Ford/Singleton) WR: Washington WR: KLS WR: Wallace/Transfer TE: Johnson LT: Fashanu LG: Wormley C: Scruggs RG: Tengwall RT: Wallace DE: Issac DT: Mustipher DT: Ellies DE: Luketa Sam: Jacobs Mike...

    2022 Recruiting Class Thread

It's this. Rivals' evaluation is a bizarre combination of punishing kids who don't go to their camps, and ego/stubbornness which hinders their ability to admit when they've misevaluated a prospect.

The point is more that the kid was one of the fastest out of everyone we timed at camp this summer. Regardless of whether that timing was electronic or handheld, or the composite handheld method they use, if the kid's the fastest runner in a camp of a couple hundred or more, I think he runs...

    Auburn board not happy...

How are we holding up this morning, Fordon? Just checking in to see how your prediction of 7-5 with losses to Wisconsin, Ball State and Auburn is doing. What’s the tape telling you?

One of the better PSU/Auburn game analysis I've read....

Penn State has been getting dominated in time of possession almost every season since 2016, and has won a ton of games in spite of it. The big exception to time of possession was 2020, where we noteworthily did not win a ton of games. It's a stat that's practically meaningless in terms of its...

One of the better PSU/Auburn game analysis I've read....

Penn State would have gladly signed up for Wisconsin running the ball 80 times if they were averaging 3 yards a carry in the process. But some people here would see that Wisconsin rushed for 240 yards and say that it meant that Penn State's run defense was bad.

    US News College ranking

Pitt's incoming freshman class credentials have been better than Penn State's for a number of years now, and the gap is growing. They give better financial aid, too.

    US News College ranking

The ranking formula shift in the past few years to more affordability-driven metrics has more to do with it than anything related to the scandal. It's no secret that Penn State is one of the least-affordable (and least-generous, as far as financial aid goes) public schools in the country. That...

OT: The Rutgers Way on Covid

How's this kid going to get a religious or medical waiver? I don't think "not finding Covid to be scary" because of your age group would qualify under most definitions. Also, sounds like Rutgers' policy on vaccinations has been public since March 2021. The kid had plenty of time to get the...

    Big news at Pitt

The AD hired Capel and inherited Narduzzi, and I think she likes Capel better, especially considering the rebuilds both coaches inherited. IMO their basketball team will be better than football this year, largely because Capel is a better coach than Narduzzi is.

    Big news at Pitt

We can rip on Pitt all we want, but that’s a big boy donation that will help their program - especially the head coach endowment, which they might need if they end up looking for one this winter.

It wouldn't matter if Andre Roye went to SFA or a school in the middle of Alaska. As a pure prospect, he sits solidly higher than Brubaker, and there are probably a few names between the two on the board.

Most unexpected star on the team this year?

I think Keandre Lambert-Smith has a nice year (5 touchdowns), limited only by us playing a bunch of snaps with two tight ends and him being off the field. I think Zuriah Fisher emerges as the starting DE opposite AK by midseason and plays very well.

Will Levis named Kentucky’s starting quarterback to open 2021 season

I want to enter the brain of someone who genuinely thinks that Tommy Stevens and/or Will Levis are better than Sean Clifford. It sounds like a fascinating, terrifying journey.

PSU to charge $10 parking for basketball, baseball, hockey, volleyball, wrestling

No, she's saying that if you're driving from four hours away to pay $5 to park, you can now let them know in advance that you're coming and pay $5.50.
