    Will Lewan might be about the best measure for how high the ceiling is this year. If he can score on a guy that keeps excellent position, doesn't give up many tds, and puts opponents and wrestling fans to sleep -- then, maybe Haines is a legit threat.

    Why would that matter for Coach's ranking? Coach's rank how they want to & they're not going to rank Brooks 2nd, nor should they. Hidlay & Coleman are just numbers in a formula for the "quality wins" & RPI criteria. Brooks could have more "quality wins" than Keckeisen by the end of the season...

    The only real damage this loss does for Brooks is that he won't be considered for the Hodge. This won't change Brooks's seed. No one is going to rank a 1-loss Keckeisen ahead of a 1-loss Brooks. The other seeding criteria will likely be a push, Coach's rank will put Brooks as the 1 seed.

    This isn't a mystery, in my view. Lovett was a solid 157 for last 3 years, now cutting to 149. I remember thinking that he looked a lot bigger than Van Ness at the Army Tournament. Guessing he's getting Valencia lung and the only remedy is bumping up to 165.

    Is Aaron Brooks a Lock to Win 184lbs?

    Keckeisen and Hidley are very good. A mistake or two and Brooks could lose. However, I think we'd all like to see the final score of a Hidley match where he isn't allowed to continually retreat to the edge. Wittlake at 184 might surprise everybody - he's been sucking weight his whole career.

    I felt that way about Berge and Hildebrandt's seeds. They could be placed anywhere in the bracket -- it seems beyond coincidence that they're both a 16 seed & face the 1 seed in round 2.

    The seeding matrix would've worked fine if Schultz had actually wrestled Kerkvliet when he was scheduled to. That is the missing piece here. The problem is forfeits, ducks, and no shows and receiving no consequences. There needs to be a seeding consequence for skipping scheduled matches.
