Any of the below pictures are better than the ones up top.
And if only we could include that one shot Lynda did for the centerfold prop in Apocalypse Now.
I'm a State College native who has lived outside of Hartford for a decade. How close to Colchester (correct spelling) do you want to be and what kind of town are you looking for? Nightlife or close to nature? Near the coast or in the hills? kids or no kids? diverse community or as homogenous as...
I never said those titles were bestowed with the intent of inflating egos--merely posited that there could be a link between the coaching dysfunction/Lasch Building revolving door and Franklin's feel-good promotions.
So, to be clear: are you saying that the titles aren't valid but simply a ruse...
Poetry writing with Bruce Weigl, a Vietnam vet who was awarded a Bronze Star. The year I had him, 1989, he had just been nominated for a Pulitzer for his collection, Song of Napalm. He had the knack for drawing the truth from people--a rare trait.
Forget about players with inflated senses of self-importance--PSU's coaching staff has more coordinators/ass. head coaches (7 of 10) than ANY team in the AP Top 10. Hell, Jimbo has all of two coordinators at A&M. Stop trying to make everyone happy--players and assistant--and just get them to do...
I was standing near Franklin at the letterman's club tribute to Joe in 2016, a night when Mike Reid performed two songs. The first, "Think of Me," Reid had written especially for the occasion in homage to Joe. The second, "Stranger in My House," might as well had been written for Franklin. There...
There's no better than a penguin's chance in Phoenix that we will have a fall season. No AD/President in their right mind would choose to start an abbreviated season that could be shortened even further in stadiums at 20 percent capacity over a chance to play the same number of games at much...
Found this 1995 Sports Illustrated article by Steve Rushin that previews the 2020 college football season. It's all tongue in cheek, and while wrong about KiJanie Carter, he does get a few predictions right--actually more than most SI previews. lol...
The two seating options being discussed right now are checkerboard (18K) or serpentine (42K). I am afraid that Barron will make a cya decision and cancel season to avoid lawsuits, because there is NO way to adequately implement CDC recommendations in a football stadium. Ever try to socially...
Another huge factor is Franklin's paltry buyout -- $4M after next year, dropping $1M every season afterward. That makes him an attractive candidate every offseason, which in turn gives him powerful leverage in renegotiations, both for himself and his staff. Setting yourself up to be held hostage...
here's a great story on that 210-pound center https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/local/1981/03/19/penn-states-jagers-how-far-can-his-talent-take-him/84907ef8-7c77-4306-a14c-112a61b636ce/
Never implied that Franklin would get fired for a 7-6 record. Quite the opposite actually. I merely pointed out that PSU keeps plenty of coaches around despite middling results.
Allow me to elaborate, Baron. There was just a little too much smoke around that situation for me to feel as confident as you. So much has changed in regard to optics; not just since 2011 at PSU but in the last five years in broader society.
I would imagine that in this current climate any...
