Light off topic fare, the chipmunk logo

Personally, I never thought it was a chipmunk until I opened this thread. Now I think the logo could’ve be better, but I wouldn’t change it at this point; it’s become iconic and synonymous with Penn State.

Light off topic fare, the chipmunk logo

Penn State has a lion logo that looks like a chipmunk, Pitt had panther logos that looked like dinosaurs and seals… what’s wrong with PA’s college football logos?

Starting to see college football super league talk

I don’t think that’s my problem! ;) In all seriousness, I’d imagine they’d give preference to original conference members if they went with ten-team divisions. For instance, Arkansas and South Carolina wouldn’t be in the Southeast Division, Utah wouldn’t be in the Pacific Division, etc.

    Earthquake in philly

Earthquake in Jersey? I don’t think that’s happened since Ginny Sack moved in…

Starting to see college football super league talk

That's also a good idea, but I'm just going off what The Athletic wrote. Supposedly, all 70 P4 schools (with the addition of SMU) would be included plus an eighth division consisting of the top ten G5 schools using a promotion/relegation system, creating an eight-division, 80-school system.

Starting to see college football super league talk

I don't disagree; I'm only predicting what the divisions would look like based on the vision of this "super league."

Starting to see college football super league talk

Assuming eight divisions of ten teams (one of which being the top ten teams from the G5), it could look something like this for a hypothetical 2024 season: Atlantic Division: Clemson, Duke, Florida St, Georgia Tech, Maryland, North Carolina, NC St, South Carolina, Virginia, Wake Forest Central...

The ACC needs to cease to exist

So essentially you’d like to split up every sport by itself? At that point, every sport would have a super league. I guess that’s a fair argument as long as there’s enough team in each sport to split up into geographic divisions. What you’re forgetting is that there’s the student athlete...

The ACC needs to cease to exist

It’s not “regional rivals,” it’s simply regional schools. You’d return to a conference with them because they’re the closest schools to you. Throw in Maryland, Rutgers, Boston College, UConn, etc. as well. As another example, Georgia would be in a league with Georgia Tech, Florida, FSU, Miami...

The ACC needs to cease to exist

A reminder that what we need is for football to be split off into its own entity while the rest of the collegiate athletic department returns to regional-centric conferences. In this instance, Penn State would be in an Olympic sports conference with Pitt, Syracuse, Villanova, WVU, etc. while...

Pitt declines invite to the NIT

Yeah, that’s just dumb. It’s sad because collegiate athletics is a complete mess at the moment.

The ACC needs to cease to exist

If, say, Clemson, FSU, and North Carolina all leave for the Big Ten or SEC, I think an ACC/Big 12 merger would be ideal. It could look something like this: Central Pod: Colorado, Iowa State, Kansas, OK State East Pod: Duke, NC State, Virginia, Virginia Tech North Pod: Louisville, Pittsburgh...

The ACC needs to cease to exist

It’ll become a shell of its former self, but it won’t be killed off completely. Unlike the Pac-12 when they collapsed, we already have a TV deal in place. As long as we maintain 15 members (meaning we can backfill), the deal remains intact. Of course, this doesn’t concern me if we get the Big...

Pitt declines invite to the NIT

Absolutely. I feel like they ruined the NIT recently by: 1. Moving it away from The Garden 2. Not awarding auto-bids to regular season champions (which benefitted the one-bid leagues). I think this is the biggest one because there were always tons of legitimately good teams who almost made it...

Pitt declines invite to the NIT

In all seriousness, I think PSU will be just fine with Rhoades. Has had impressive turnarounds everywhere he’s coached. It’s tough have a head coach poached in the age of the portal/NIL because there’s so much roster turnover.

Pitt declines invite to the NIT

Since I don’t see Penn State in the field, I’m assuming they also declined an NIT invitation? ;)

Rumor: Steelers talking to Jones/Ham to replace Hillgrove

I’m hoping they go with Rob King. He did a good job when Hillgrove missed some games a few years ago… also liked the work he did for the Pens/Bucs.

The Steelers just traded Pickett to the Eagles.

I knew they had Mariota who just left for Washington, not sure who else is there. Not many options left in free agency as well (I think?).

The Steelers just traded Pickett to the Eagles.

Two things I keep coming back to, 1. He’s a cheap backup with starting experience. They probably also think some of his struggles had to do with his environment 2. Seems like a scheme fit. The more I think about it, Marcus Mariota (the NFL player, not college) is a solid comparison for Pickett...

The Steelers just traded Pickett to the Eagles.

I’ll take the aging star and *probable* bust versus the bust and the career backup… can’t argue the QB room isn’t better than what is was a month ago.
