Going to a lottery system for student tickets

Of course, basketball isn't enough of a draw at PSU to make that work. Nor any other sport (I'm sorry Wrestling, women's volleyball, etc - they aren't that popular to make a difference). Ice hockey is the only one that might work in that aspect but does student tickets sell out quickly or at...

Going to a lottery system for student tickets

So, why is it different dates for each class? Is there a set amount of tickets assigned to each class or do some classes (I'd guess upperclassmen) get more? Or does the amount of requests impact how many are assigned to each class?

Football Penn State adds FIU to 2025 schedule

Yep. If they wanted to play a game in Philly, just fine someone to play a one off there. Game against Notre Dame, for example, would be perfect.

Football Penn State adds FIU to 2025 schedule

Well, what you are describing is how the “playoff” has continued to completely erode the regular season for college football. What previously was the most awesome regular season in sports - where every game was important - has been constantly diminished due to a focus on “playoffs”.

Football Penn State adds FIU to 2025 schedule

Meh. The “playoff” games are the pathetic money grabs. At least conference championship games have a real meaning and qualification requirements defining them.

Football Penn State adds FIU to 2025 schedule

Absolutely pathetic. I’ve been begging for them to buy out the stupid Temple series and fix 2025/2026 and this is a huge step in the wrong direction. It’s going to (potentially) bite us in the butt with the expanded playoffs as they will be looking at actual strength of schedule. It is not...

Report: UNC Viewed as SEC, Big Ten's Most Attractive Expansion Target from ACC

I think UNC is the clear #2 in the ACC in value after FSU. But they are potentially the team which would be the biggest place of contention between the Big Ten and SEC - both conferences would really want them and that state

    Peacock be damned

Depends. It doesn't include it automatically for all Comcast subscribers anymore, but depending on your cable plan and/or length you have been a subscriber, some people can get Peacock for free via XFinity Rewards

    Friday Night Football...On FOX

That was exactly what I was thinking. If people want to go and watch their local HS football team, I don't think a third tier college game being on TV really would impact that. I mean, there's always something that can be done as an alternative entertainment (if it is not college football, for...

    Friday Night Football...On FOX

From what I've read, the schools that have basically said they cannot host on Fridays are PSU, tOSU, UM, Nebraska and Iowa. Obviously there can and will be some away games featuring those schools at times. There's also been rumors that there will be some "after dark" games (i.e. 10:00 PM or...

    Friday Night Football...On FOX

Why would (or should) FOX or any other network willingly put on programming that fewer people will watch? What is in it for FOX when their advertising revenue is far less?

    Friday Night Football...On FOX

Apparently this was part of the deal when FOX ponied up more money to pay for the addition of Oregon and Washington

    Homecoming 2024

So that's an interesting choice since typically PSU has tended to avoid September dates as it is early in the semester and they feel it is tough to get everything organized so quickly (though it is pretty late in September). PSU tends to favor October dates, but the only home game that month is...

    Homecoming 2024

I don't think I have seen it posted, but the PSU Homecoming game this year is Illinois on Sept 28. https://www.psu.edu/news/campus-life/story/penn-state-homecoming-2024-dates-announced/

    FSU permitted to leave ACC

But what exactly is "legitimate"? That Florida St could spend a bunch of money and leave the ACC? How was that not already true? These media reports are blowing out of proportion (or misinterpreting) court filings where the ACC is basically stating that they aren't preventing FSU from leaving...

    FSU permitted to leave ACC

It's not even technically wrong, it's just not news. FSU has always had the ability to leave the ACC -- they'd have to pay a large exit fee to leave and if they want to buy back their TV rights from the GOR they'd have to spend a ton for that too. That's never not been true and the ACC is only...

Trib article today re: naming field after Paterno

I'm not sure what "do much" even means - he did exactly what he should have in the circumstance. He put the witness in direct contact with the proper authorities and then did not interfere. In fact, it is exactly what the NCAA requires coaches to do in the situation. You don't want football...

    FSU permitted to leave ACC

I'm pretty sure this is a wild leap in what has been stated. The ACC has said they are open to allowing FSU to buy back their TV rights (from the GOR) and could leave the conference. That would still involve a massive payout for both things, so much so that it is likely cost prohibitive if the...

Trib article today re: naming field after Paterno

He also said "I wish I had done more" not "I should have done more". One is an expression of regret, the other an admission of guilt. They are two completely different things. Paterno, as the quality individual he was, was troubled by a feeling of potentially having been able to do something...

Trib article today re: naming field after Paterno

The bickering is exactly why it the stadium should be named after him. If people are just going to repeat falsehoods and lies, the family and the university and the actual fans of the school might as well get the benefit of properly honoring the man. The crap is slung regardless of whatever...
