The event that happened that no one seems to be talking about regarding Florida State is that a 5 loss Kentucky team beat Louisville the week before the ACC Championship. That weakened Florida State's case even more especially when Alabama beat Kentucky with ease in Lexington the second week of...
Predictions:
If FSU in the playoff:
1 Michigan
2 Washington
3 Florida State
4 Texas
Matchups:
ROSE: Michigan-Texas
SUGAR: Washington-Florida State
FIESTA: Oregon-Missouri
COTTON: Georgia-Ohio State
ORANGE: Alabama-Louisville
PEACH: Penn State-Liberty/SMU
If FSU is out:
1 Michigan
2 Washington...
But they have said they want to move teams out of their home state for NY6 games.....if Texas isn't in the playoffs they wouldn't go to the Cotton Bowl....same with the Peach and UGA.
Agreed....but the 0 Loss versus 2 Loss argument is the issue. If SMU had 1 loss, it would be easy to go with SMU but they had 2 losses and one with a team that had a losing record.
I don't think that will happen....Liberty has 0 Losses and SMU has 2 losses. If SMU had one loss you could justify it. Also, Liberty was ranked last week in the CFB Poll and SMU wasn't....a couple of key factors there.
Georgia losing to Bama may change that....that causes a ripple effect in the non playoff NY6 games. OSU is pushed out of the Orange now in favor of UGA or Bama now.
Correct....Louisville beat NC State head to head and both would have the same amount of losses which means most likely Louisville will be higher ranked on Sunday.
Since the NY6 started in 2014...it has been:
2014 Boise State Fiesta
2015 Houston Peach
2016 Western Michigan Cotton
2017 UCF Peach
2018 UCF Fiesta
2019 Memphis Cotton
2020 Cincinnati Peach
2021 Cincinnati Cotton Playoff Game
2022 Tulane Cotton
Rose, Orange and Sugar have the conference tie...
Brett McMurphy is pretty accurate when predicting bowl games. I believe he was the first to say last year if OSU doesn't make the playoff then the Rose Bowl would take PSU over OSU due to OSU being there the year before. That wasn't the case but he does these every Monday during the season so he...
Remember Louisville is pretty much locked into the Orange Bowl no matter what. If they beat FSU, they go there as ACC Champ. If they lose, FSU is most likely in the playoff and they will be the ACC representative in the Orange Bowl. The only way Louisville does not go to the Orange Bowl is FSU...
If FSU loses to Louisville, I would think the Cotton Bowl would want Bama if they lose to UGA since OSU would be ahead of them and go to the Orange then Missouri will go to the Fiesta and play the Pac 12 Runner Up
If FSU Loses:
Peach- PSU vs NY6
Orange- OSU vs Louisville
Cotton- Alabama-Florida...
The only thing is the Orange Bowl needs to take the highest ranked SEC/Big Ten team not in the playoffs....if Georgia beats Bama that will be OSU with one loss over Bama with two losses. The Peach Bowl is also campaigning hard for us.
I think Tulane loses this weekend to SMU so that would means...
But the ACC has a Orange Bowl Tie In....so even if FSU wins Saturday....a 3 loss Louisville team is in the NY6 if an undefeated FSU is in playoffs which is likely because Oregon or Washington lose and drop next week.
