He did, 4-0 record against him I believe. Horwath and Gilcher just had terrible redshirt seasons. Just odd, guess we’ll see next year

    Wrestling Penn State/Michigan Dual Thread.

Herniated disc in his neck all last season, generally not great for wrestling your best. And it showed, Parris ran through most everybody not named Gable the year before and then regressed quite a bit last year. Can’t wait to see Parris vs Kerk a couple more times this year.

Michael Beard to the transfer portal

Michigan probably out too unless he graduates between now and the fall. Admissions only allow 60 credits to transfer so their transfers are pretty much limited to freshman or graduates. Which means a 4th year guy like Beard would have to make up a lot of credits in a short time.

    Wednesday Night Action

Not really much of a difference in size imo, he went 141 for a college open in December without a problem. Swiderski won 152 in Michigan because that’s what was best for the team. It’s D3, there are 4 divisions in Michigan, so there isn’t much competition, he even wrestled at 171 during team state.

How big an advantage will Michigan have in Detroit?

This, Detroit has some really bad spots still, but it’s way way better than it was and has some really nice spots. As for an advantage for Michigan, not very much in my mind. Less travel, family and friends get to attend sure, but other than that? Biggest difference it made for Michigan was...

Braeden Davis commits to the good guys

As you mention, lots of really good wrestlers that end up as middle and upperweights wrestle 106/103 as freshman. Zach Thomusseit, DTs former teammate at St Paris Graham wrestled 103 as a frosh in high school and AA’d as a heavyweight in college. DT is an usual case though, he wrestled 112 as a...

    Cadet WTT’s

I don’t think he has to choose, maybe people are advising him choose one and focus on it but its not a rule. Adam Coon competed in both styles at both Cadet and Junior Worlds for instance. Won a Bronze in both styles at Juniors I believe.

Facundo jobbed at Michigan team state finals

It wasn’t the case of Facundo wrestling up against a full size 189 lbs guy. Rojas the guy Facundo slammed has went 171 pretty much all year and both weighed in for the day at 171. Going 189 here because Davison won the flip and this is the matchup they wanted and got. Rojas going 189 for the...

Wrestled Away: The Lee Kemp Story (streaming on Amazon)

Great flick, thanks for this I probably wouldn’t have seen it otherwise. Though I must say, watching the part where my Alma mater Michigan, blows it by not offering him a full ride made me physically sick.

    Wrestling & Football Scholarships

From what I’ve heard it seems like he’s a walk on to the football team on a wrestling scholarship. If he doesn’t play in a game he doesn’t count as a football scholarship. Seems weird and strange to me, I’ve never heard of a case like this before. Basically seems like he has a year to redshirt...

    Parris Beats Dhesi

Wait Dhesi isn’t a really big heavyweight? Since when? This is news to me, the guy is huge. Parris struggles on bottom, guys that are good on top will give him trouble. Now if he’d quit picking bottom when it’s his choice this would solve part of the problem, but I’m fine with him doing it at...

    World Championships - Oct. 20-28

To me the thing that stands out about that, is not only the US’ complete ineptitude in Greco wrestling, but just how sparse the D1 folk style wrestlers are represented in Greco Gold medals. Only 7 US male athletes have ever won gold medals in Greco, 2 of which occurred during the Eastern Bloc...

    Cenzo and 165 predictions

Definitely wasn’t even close to 100 percent from Cliff Keen on. Had major surgery right after the season.

    Michigan

Daaaaang, that is one heck of a pick up. 2 time Olympic gold medalist, 6 time world champ and likely would have been a 3 time Olympic gold medalist if not for the 84 boycott. Michigan RTC stepping their game up big time.

    Fargo is coming

Manville and Facundo are going to have themselves a battle for the #1 P4P in the 2021 class by the time they graduate. Before this summer I’d probably have given Manville the edge due to the number of elite wins. However, Facundo medaling at Cadet Worlds and Carson not evens things up a bit in...

WIN Magazine 2018 Recruiting Class Rankings

You would think they would have caught on by now with PSU and Ohio State’s success in recent years based off studs. It isn’t football, where 40-50 people contribute, or basketball where the top 10-15 only spend one year in college. Only 10 starters and usually 8 or less that score at NCAAs and...

WIN Magazine 2018 Recruiting Class Rankings

Can’t say I am a fan of their rankings. PSU a clear number 1 imo. And Michigan can’t make the top 5 with 2 consensus top 10 pound for pound guys and a cadet world champ?

    Senior World Team Trials

Yep the very same, graduated quite a few years ago now. Decided to give it a go again at age 33, hadn’t wrestled competitively in quite a while before this which is why you haven’t heard of him.

Nelson is massive for heavyweight? I mean he’s hard to score on but he’s not massive imo.

Final Recruiting rankings 2018...... The Sportsfan Way

One thing I would suggest changing is lessening the points for 113 and 120. Or trying to combine them into 1 weight because obviously all those kids are going 125 in college. And frankly 126 is probably overvalued as well in comparison with the rest of the weights because a lot of those kids...
