Iowa fan asks "Kasak Dirty?"

Obviously, not! However, in going back to rewatch some matches today I stumbled on this single leg finish against Watters where he does the exact same thing as Plott. He cranks it longer and farther against the joint than Plott.

Linked the videos below for those who claimed to have never seen this common finish against a shin whizzer.

The major difference is that Truax's knee pops and Watters' doesn't. Injuries suck, but we don't need to malign the intentions of hard working athletes.

Carter final opponent strategy

I enjoy the strategy and gameplanning of which it seems PSU staff is superior as per their semifinal and final results through the years. I have been hearing a lot of analyst say that Lewis, Griffith, and Welsh should have been more active to push the pace and make Carter work more form his feet due to the injury. I was wondering from those of you that wrestled is this easier said than done? Does Carter's Head/hands defense and staling prevent this? Does his positioning and strength prevent the non-committed shots due to his abilty to finish and score points? How would a Mesenbrink/Carter match look with injury and without injury?

Also what would a health Carter/Keckheisen match look like? Carter/O'Toole?

Olympic Trials previews

Coming up in in less than a month. April 19th-20th. I’ll post the entire list of qualifiers but first look at 74kg. Absolutely loaded! Whoever comes out will be battle tested. I’m hoping it’s Nolf but still think Dake wins it. I’m most interested to see how Mesenbrink does against this group of killers though

OT New Dog Thread

Okay, now that we’ve beaten the dogs in strollers issue to death. What in hell is wrong with these people that dress their dogs up like they’re going to a fashion show? I see it for Pomeranians and other tiny breeds for some perverted self righteous interest. But what self respecting German Shepherd, Doberman or a hunting dog wants to be dressed like a freak when he goes for a walk?

Don’t give me the wether nonsense, because God gave them a furry coat. And if you leave your dog outside for prolonged periods in really cold weather, you shouldn’t have a dog? Unfortunately that’s a different story. But this dressing them in coats, hats and God forgive booties, for a walk is a sign of a really demented individual.

You wrestling guys are insane

In four days just the three main threads have over 94 pages….and counting. Over 3,850 comments……and counting. Over 380,000 page views….and counting. And countless other threads.

How can you watch the matches and just read the comments? And no way you can watch the matches, read the comments AND put in your own comments!

Like someone else said…. You have to be AI bots.

Seriously, love your passion. I enjoy wrestling but nowhere near your addiction levels😉. And I have trouble reading it all as you have your own dialect of English.

My area didn’t have wrestling. My only experience was at PSU…. a kid on my floor had been a very good high school wrestler but opted to concentrate on his studies. Many weekends, after a few beers, we would wrestle in the elevator area. I was bigger and stronger…..5’10” and 180 while he was 5’7” and about 160….. so I could muscle him around a bit but he knew his moves.

Several times I thought I had had him in serious jeopardy and then suddenly the world would spin in three directions at once and I found myself flat on my back. I would ask him how the hell he did it and he would just smile and walk away.

A fascinating sport combining strength , skill, endurance, quickness, balance, brains, and guts.

“Stop all prop betting” says NCAA

NCAA President Baker is asking all states with legal betting to outlaw pro bets….. betting on an individual player’s stats.

Says it puts pressure on players and some have been getting harassed over it.

VA Tech/NC St., IA/OK St., MO/IA St. duals

Battle of the two best college wrestling Schools in History is coming up!

My predictions:

125- Ayala dec Spratley 3-0
133- Fix mdec Teske 3-4
141- Woods dec Jamison 6-4
149- Voinovich dec Williams 9-4
157- Franek dec Travis 12-4
165- Caliendo dec Olejnik 15-4
174- Kennedy dec Thompson 18-4
184- Plott mdec Riggins 18-8
197- Glazier dec Surber 21-8
HWT- Doucette dec Hill 21-11

Some good individual matchups here that could go either way.
125, 149, 165, 197 and possibly 184 and HWT if Arnold and Keuter wrestle. I always look forward to this dual every year. Big rivalry!
This is one of the best matchups of the season. 125, 149, 165, 174, and 197 all could go either way and all have really intriguing matchups (Spratley vs Ayala is one I'm looking really forward to). Even 141 and 157, which are two weights that should favor Iowa, will be competitive. I'll take a 5-5 split of the matches and give a point or two edge to Ok St based on bonus potential at 133 and 184 (if Riggins).

Mitchell Mesenbrink's Pace

I just rewatched Mitchell's last match with Caliendo (23-7 TF in 6:47). In the 4 minutes and 20 seconds they spent on their feet I counted at least 14 committed shots from Mitchell, of which he converted seven of them. That averages out to a committed shot once every 18.5 seconds against a very solid opponent. This is not even counting the numerous level changes, penetration steps, snap downs and constant forward pressure by Mitchell. It really is a sight to behold. Mitchell's pace is such that it is hard to truly appreciate it during the matches since everything is transpiring so quickly. It is only after being able to re-watch and study the matches that you can truly appreciate his phenomenal pace and pressure. Considering what a great job the Penn State coaches do in developing their wrestlers, the sky is the limit for Mitchell. I am so excited to watch his college and freestyle career unfold these next few years. And as a Penn state fan I am thrilled he wanted to come to Penn State!

PA HS Wrestling thread

Since Dunk requested a thread ...

Isaiah Vance is the returning PA AAA 285 runner-up to Hunter Catka, and the only wrestler Catka did not bonus all year. Heavy favorite to win this year. Borderline top 10 nationally. Won Powerade with a victory over Malvern Prep's Cole Deery (also national top 10) in the finals. Great pickup for Army.
