Senator Dinniman - I've spoken to you twice in person about this issue, gave you research on the failures of Second Mile and Centre County Children & Youth & PaDPW with regards to Sandusky and have emailed your office.
Sandusky still would have passed background checks and fingerprinting. He passed home studies done by licensed caseworkers in our state, maintained clearance thru ChildLine for years even after complaints were escalated thru the system, had children placed in his home and referred to his charity by the very people we entrust in our state to protect and serve kids.
When will someone like you demand that the Second Mile and Centre County Children & Youth be investigated?
The blowback from all this is volunteers are dropping like flies, entities are embroiled in various lawsuits, money and legislation has been thrown at a problem that was a direct result of TRAINED & PAID PROFESSIONALS NOT DOING THEIR JOBS.
Dr. Jack Raykovitz and his wife, Katherine Genovese of the Second Mile - both mandated reporters in our state, failed to implement a written safety plan - as per state mandate- both in 1998 and 2001 after receiving complaints. To this day, these two are still gadding about town, never having been investigated or charged.
Centre County Judge Grine and Dr. Jack Raykovitz placed Matt Sandusky in that home, bypassing established protocol. Matt was a firestarter and extremely troubled - he should have gone into licensed care first. Sandusky had no clinical experience working with such disturbed youth. Other than being a COLLEGE coach of elite student/athletes, what special training or licensing did he have to mentor at-risk kids from dysfunctional homes with severe emotional and psychological challenges?
You also have to wonder why in 1998 the State sent in an unlicensed counselor, John Seasock, to whitewash Dr. Chamber's opinion of the abuse of her client, who Sandusky accessed from the Second Mile. They should have sent in an investigator from the Cresson field office.
