Two recently graduated heavyweights training for football

Their eligibility at Penn State has come to an end, but that doesn't mean their athletic careers are finished yet.

Recent graduates and former heavyweight starters Jon Gingrich and Jimmy Lawson are turning their attention to another sport, BWI has learned. With their college wrestling careers over, Gingrich and Lawson are switching gears to football and have begun training with their sights set on a chance to eventually earn a tryout with an NFL team. Gingrich will also stick around State College, Pa., as a resident athlete with the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club, focusing on freestyle wrestling in addition to football, Cael Sanderson confirmed.
