As I'm sure everyone knows, two new business and industry trustees were approved at the last BOT meetings on May 8th. Those new trustees are Robert E. Fenza and Mary Lee Schneider. Here is the news story from Penn State on the same day:
http://news.psu.edu/story/356715/2015/05/08/administration/board-trustees-election-results-announced

Mary Lee Schneider is said to work for Follett Corp. based out of River Grove, Illinois. All of the media reports I found listed her as the CEO. Problem is, there was a press release and a link to story on May 4th stating that Mary Lee had "retired" as president, director and CEO. Interestingly, it was worded at "retired, effective immediately." If you read her quote right off the company's site, "While I am moving on to the next adventure, ...." hardly makes it sound like she retired.

I'm curious if this information was given to voting trustees. Mary Lee's LinkedIn profile has not been updated as of yet.

If you want to look farther, there's a site called the layoff.com where people can post anonymously. Surely you have to take it with a grain of salt because it is anonymous, but a majority of the post are not favorable to Ms. Schneider or the way the company had been operating in recent times. The posts also suggest that the was not planned and came suddenly.

So did the entire board know this? Why can't reporters do a little fact checking? Will it look weird when they update the trustee's website bios and hers is only one without a company? Or will it say retired?

Just another day in #psubot........ P.S. been reading this board for many many years but this is my first post so I apologize if links aren't working or spacing is off.

there's a reason why the B&I Trustees want to keep their selection process secret

Hey, I'm sure this unemployed individual would not be affected by the possible influences of wealthy business owners and professionals who are also on the BOT.

FYI... the first link you posted states she is "former CEO and president". Not sure if it's always said that or if it was edited at some point.

Edit: just saw at the bottom of the article it says it was edited may 12th. Does not say what the edit was though.

So did the entire board know this? Probably no more than the criticism Al Lord received as the CEO of Sallie Mae. Why can't reporters do a little fact checking? Will it look weird when they update the trustee's website bios and hers is only one without a company? Or will it say retired?

My guess is that when her bio is written, fact checked, and placed on the website it will be structured similar to Al Lords' who retired from Sallie Mae.

So you couldn't resist taking a shot at an alumni-elected trustee, even when the OP never asked about any of the alumni-elected trustees.

The Penn State news story was definitely updated today and not on the 12th. There wasn't much of a bio for any of the new trustees in original release.

All of those still state she is the CEO of Follett and I have a strong belief that they received the same release I read today.

No big deal. She was just retired early.
