The figures used above are from Rutgers' web site and PSU's web site. They are for in-state and out-of-state students that live on campus, reside in the respective university's dorms, and have a standard meal plan.
If you consider cost of living, and the excessive turnpike tolls in NJ, it's essentially equal. But for the same price, you get a better degree, get a better football team to cheer for, and get to live on a nicer campus if you go to PSU. That's a no brainer.
Best guess is it's a reference to the larger fraternity houses.
This was also something I didn't really understand what they were referring to.
Good natured jabs and taunting. No issue with it. The collegian used to post the same thing when we were playing another school and invite the others school to create a "top ten list". If you take this stuff seriously then you probably have a problem. The crap in the Rutgers tailgates lots and some of the Tshirts were out of bounds last year but they got called out for it.

It's ridiculous that they have a count down clock to the PSU game. That's just laughable and reeks of desperation to try to create some fake rivalry. At this point I think we need Rutgers and Maryland to have a death cage match to find out which one can claim the fake PSU rivalry.
Rutgers is ready for September 19th!! Here's their list of why Penn State doesn't compare to Rutgers...pretty ballsy for a team who lost to us (with that O Line!).

Rutgers' athletic department really tries to force an Alabama-esque sports culture around campus, and is met with raging indifference. The B1G buzz has worn off in New Brunswick; we students just want affordable tuition. The B1G marketing is more popular with maybe a quarter of alumni and people who didn't go to college.
#1 is hilarious. Who the hell touts a 40 minutes train ride to anywhere.... I've lived in New York City and New Brunswick is considered a whole world away. I guess when you have nothing going for you, a 40 minute train is the best you can do to do anything fun.
The good folks of Rutland Vermont would notice and feel sullied and offended. They prefer lobster bisque over turtle soup and the Green Mountain Boys would rip those rainbow Knighty mascots to shreds!
