I have mixed feelings on this. For the most part, mostly good sentiment. But thinking the USA can control AI is like thinking the USA can control the WWW. I fear the govt put bureaucracy above progress. The development of AI will simply happen offshore and the USA could get left behind in one of the most game-changing technologies to be released in our lifetimes.

I am finding that the "right" doesn't understand the DEI initiative in the EO though. AI makes decisions based on history. It is like driving a car by only looking through the rear view mirror. Think about red-lining, for example. Mortgages, after the notion of red-lining was discovered, turned to simple math without the decision tree knowing the details of the individuals asking for the loan. what happened? More redlining. It simply turned down people who wanted to buy houses in traditionally bad 'hoods who had bad credit ratings. AI will simply do the same if not checked with some kind of human intervention.

As Kamala says, "don't let what can be done be hindered by what has been done."
