BB Recruiting 2024 G Jahvin Carter commits to Penn State

here we go ...
Looks like 2A is TN large school division. State champs- and he is PG so knows how to distribute to win.

Already the same size as Dallion Johnson but w Point skills instead of being a spot up shooter w modest handle. Let's give Rhodes some credit for having to recruit ahead of the curve- sort of like the same CJF refrain w Fields and many others.

Yeah- not having a UT offer being so close is odd...but they have been doing a lot in the Portal. Remember that we once had an under the radar commit from Columbus, OH who would eschew us and go on to be a National Player of the Year at Michigan: Trey Burke.

Not saying Cater is either Burke on the upside nor Johnson, but if he can handle the ball, play pressure D, and help our team stay in sync/make plays then what is the downside?

Georgia Tech has been mediocre of late, but has better hoops history than us, a better facility, in an excellent, modern city that is the epicenter of hip hop and a lot of African American culture, but, like TB Leroy Thompson in the late 80s from the Eastern TN region, he choose State. Maybe our rural location helped? On the Yellow Jacket boards they are likely bitching that they lost a recruit to us- and excoriating their staffs' ineptitude.

Welcome Jahvin!

I don't believe his HS is in the largest classification but he is very quick/skilled, ad adept ball handler who can definitely play @ the NCAA Division 1 level. Maneuvers well in traffic on the court.

Two is a smaller division here in Tennessee. Alcoa is a machine in football for Tennessee, would be interesting to see if he plays football, would be somewhat shocked if he did not. Alcoa has won their state division in football on about the same rate as PSU Wrestling wins the NCAA......he seems quick, good dribble.

It is funny in TN as large private schools are called 2A. So the large private schools who recruit play in 2A but the public schools go from 1-6 with 6 being the largest schools.

Alcoa is a power house in all sports in the lower ranks.

Alcoa is a football powerhouse for sure, but definitely in the small school division. Probably 400-800 kids. I don't think Tennessee has any force to play up if you win rules either.
