Not a shocker if you follow him. He made it to the semis at Powerade losing to Phipps 4-0. Lost to Phipps 1-0 last week at WPIAL on a illegal point, suplay. Both are tough riders and came down to a disc flip and a good ride by Herrera.

I also consider it 103, with a 3lb weight allowance.

I believe Phipps is a sophomore, not a junior.

That match is is why I love and hate 106.

Love: it's unpredictable.

Hate: Often need to wait a year or two to put these matches into context, because the better guys grow out of it. Are this year's top guys truly that good, or are they what's left after the weight clears out?

Also, 106 sometimes can be glorified junior high -- both the technique and strength aren't there yet. Which also makes it hard to contextualize this year.
