Just want the kid relaxed (no problem) and having fun (no problem). The rest, win or lose will take care of itself. The coaches may spend a minute or two looking at 165 film, but only for the semi's and finals I suspect.
Bout 1 vs #31 Maxx Mayfield (NW): Mayfield is 3-9 in his last 12, best win...
This was added for 2024 so "subjectivity" could be used, but only when needed;
SUBJECTIVE CRITERIA
The committee may also consider the following subjective measures to supplement established selection and seeding criteria:
● Bad Losses
● Outside the top 30 CR and/or 30 RPI
● Conference Champion...
Last season, championship brackets only, there were 66 upsets by seed in the ten weight classes. That's 20% of all bouts. Lot's of very good and great wrestlers at the tournament, generally saw only one head scratcher.
The only seeding of the dozen or so I looked at by criteria that doesn't...
-- Fast-twitch vs slow-twitch fibers
-- Cardiovascular differences
-- Metabolic differences
-- Body shape (from lean & long to short & stocky, and everything in-between)
-- Fitness level
-- Training (skill level)
-- Attitude (including aversion to making a mistake)
-- Miscellaneous other (sleep...
Not sure tbh. I was told that it was two of the three criteria met for tiering of opponents, which may or may not be true. It does align with the Gold/Silver Standard thinking, but who knows. And I'm not talking about the COVID year where RPI was removed from the tiering.
With you on your intentions. Retired four years ago, but Maryland wrapped up my bucket list of attending B1G's at every Big Ten university, so it is now 14-for-14.
To those that have not been, as you can imagine, the Big Ten Wrestling Championships is nearly as good a tournament as the NCAA's...
125: Davis vs Stanich
HTH (25%): Did not wrestle
Quality Wins (20%): Davis with wins over McKee, Barnett, DeAugustino (x2), Kaylor. Stanich best win vs Barnett. Advantage Davis
Qualifying Event Placement (15%): Both won conference, 7.5% each.
Common Opponents (10%): Only Barnett matters, both...
Love the kid, as I love all the wrestlers, each unique and great in their own way. Since this is a Mesenbrink thread;
-- His attack rate and success rate already mentioned
-- Respectful to his opponent, even patting an opponent on the butt mid-bout for a great attack or whatever
-- Dancing...
Fabulous time at B1G’s. This forum was well represented! Shout out to hlstone and PSUPaul specifically for the tailgate, though you could have ordered better weather 😀. Creameryfreak, thanks for the seat so my brother could join us. And to the 15+ other posters here that I ran into and spent...
Everyone noted in this thread brings something positive to their trade, yet GENERALLY (meaning not all) the comments here have a negative bent. I couldn’t do what they do. Not busting on the posters here, it’s a reflection of our society to focus on the negative.
Welcome aboard to the posting side of this forum. Seems you started "lurking" the year college wrestling started. Seriously, have a great time at the tournament. It's as good as the NCAA Championships in many respects.
No, there's a bunch of lots. It's first come-first serve, and they'll be directing cars to the lots. Coming back late from a meal might just mean you are further away.
Oh, and we're talking Big Tens here. I called it the T-Mobile Center above (now changed)...it's the XFinity Center.
For those traveling to XFinity and parking in their lots around the arena, you may be interested in this...
The website, when you buy parking for $20, it says per day. When you receive the pass, it says it is good for one entry per day. Anyone that plans to drive for a meal between sessions on...
